Sustainable Energy Technology

Why study Sustainable Energy Technology?

This two-year interdisciplinary MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology programme trains engineers to design and integrate sustainable energy solutions for a cleaner future. It covers a broad range of subjects, including Electrical Power Systems, Built Environment, Energy & Society, and Energy Sources & Storage. The programme provides the expertise to tackle the pressing global challenge of transitioning to sustainable energy.

Three unique strengths

The Master's in Sustainable Energy Technology offers distinct advantages:

  • Interdisciplinary Scope: The curriculum is truly interdisciplinary, combining knowledge of Electrical Power Systems, Built Environment, Energy & Society, and Energy Sources & Storage to provide a holistic view of the energy transition challenge.
  • International Double Degree: You can choose the SELECT track, which focuses on minimising environmental impact and offers a double degree, significantly boosting your international expertise and career opportunities.
  • Industry Relevance: The skills you gain are essential for a cleaner future, and the knowledge is also relevant for the semicon industry, ensuring high-demand career prospects.

Connection with semiconductors industry

The expertise gained in this programme is highly relevant for the semicon industry due to the industry's massive and growing energy consumption. Chip fabrication facilities require immense amounts of power, and companies are aggressively seeking sustainable solutions to minimise their environmental impact. Graduates with knowledge of Electrical Power Systems and Energy Sources & Storage are crucial for designing and integrating sustainable, resource-efficient energy systems for high-tech semiconductor manufacturers in the Brainport region.

Programme structure

This is a two-year interdisciplinary MSc programme covering four core areas: Electrical Power Systems, Built Environment, Energy & Society, and Energy Sources & Storage. The structure is designed to train engineers in designing and integrating sustainable energy solutions. The optional  SELECT track is available for students seeking a double degree with a focus on minimising environmental impact.

Career perspectives

Graduates of the Master's in Sustainable Energy Technology are prepared for careers that involve designing and implementing a cleaner energy future. You will be highly sought after in roles such as Energy Consultant, System Integrator, R&D Engineer in Energy Storage, or Sustainable Technology Specialist. The expertise is valuable across the entire energy sector, in governmental bodies, and critically, in high-tech industries like the semiconductor industry, where the focus on sustainability is now a major strategic priority.

Our track
